Kristin Weingart
Owner & MS CCC-SLP
Education

Clinical Interests
Kristin has experience working with children birth - 21 years of age with severe to profound disabilities. She specializes in Augmentative Alternative Communication (AAC), Autism, and Language Development and is passionate about using your child's interests and daily routines to help them communicate. Kristin uses Evidence-Based therapy approaches and emphasizes the importance of caregiver involvement to best support the whole child as they learn to communicate. Kristin has decided to expand her team to include multiple disciplines as she believes in supporting the whole child and helping to assist families in receiving the appropriate supports for their children in a timely manner.
Hobbies
Kristin enjoys playing with her pups - Pepper, Jack,& Brie and spending time with her husband and son Oliver. When she's not working she's likely listening to a podcast, reading or organizing.
Shannon Rumpf

Education
Shannon received both her Masters of Science in Speech Language Pathology and her Bachelors of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders while attending University of New York at Fredonia
Clinical Interests
Shannon has ventured into a variety of clinical settings; however, he heart truly lies in the homes and daycares of little ones by providing services in the natural environment. Shannon's interests include receptive/expressive language, social/pragmatic skills, voice, fluency and AAC. She believes in the importance of meeting the child where they are on any given day. She knows the value of following a child's lead, having consistent caregiver involvement and adding humor to sessions.
Hobbies:
Shannon enjoys spending time with her silly pup Benny, rooting for the Buffalo Bills, exercising and turning anything into a song!
Alison Fearon

Masters of Arts in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Montclair State University in Montclair, New Jersey
Bachelors of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders with a Minor in Special Education from the University of Vermont in Burlington, Vermont
Clinical Interests
Alison has previous experience in a variety of settings, including provided pediatric and adult therapy within the private practice setting, in-home early intervention-based services, and within the school setting supporting individualized communication across the lifespan. She has a deep rooted passion for helping individuals find their voices, with primary interests including AAC, play-based therapy to support receptive and expressive language disorders, and voice disorders. Alison enjoys working closely with individuals and their families to ensure continued success with therapeutic intervention that extends beyond the therapy session to truly integrate communicative function into their daily lives. She is excited to be working alongside the other therapists at Communication Cottage Therapy!
Hobbies
Alison loves to spend time outside with her two little ones and her husband, whether at the beach, on a hike, or just playing in their backyard. She recently moved to South Carolina from New Jersey and has had so much fun exploring the area and discovering new places and things to do!
Julia Stauffer

Education
Masters of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania.
Bachelors of Science in Speech Pathology and Audiology with a Minor in Special Education from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania.
Clinical Interests
Julia has experience in various clinical settings including pediatric private practice, daycares, in home services, acute care, and inpatient rehabilitation. Julia has worked with both adults and children, having training and experience with feeding and swallowing. Julia enjoys working with expressive and receptive language disorders, AAC, and dysphagia.
Hobbies
When I am not working, you can find me on the beach, reading a book, playing with my dog, watching football, or working out.
Margaret Evans Kvalvik
MS CCC-SLP
Education
Margaret received both her Masters of Science as well as her Bachelors of Science in
Communication Sciences and Disorders, with a minor in English and Biology while attending
the University of Montevallo in Birmingham, Alabama.
Clinical Interests
Margaret has spent most of her 20+ year career as a speech-language pathologist in a
developmental day setting, serving children with a variety of special needs and diagnoses,
including autism, developmental delay, hearing impairment/coclear implantation, Down
syndrome, ADHD, etc. Specializing in early intervention/preschool, Margaret has been
committed to helping children unlock their communication potential, fostering confidence, and enhancing their overall quality of life. Skilled in collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and
families and using a compassionate and child-centered approach, Margaret strives to make a
positive impact in the lives of the children and families she serves. The mountains of North
Carolina have been her home for decades, and now she is excited to start a new adventure in
South Carolina.
Hobbies
Margaret enjoys musicals, singing in Community Theater, and spending time with her husband,
kids, and chihuahua, Gatsby.
Savannah Blinn

We are excited to be welcoming Savannah to our team in September of 2024.
She is moving to the area and is looking forward to working with the team at Communication Cottage Therapy.
She has several of the same values as our company and is eager to meet the families in the community and make a difference.

Julie Kosik

Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy- Salus University
Bachelors of Science in Health and Exercise Science- Syracuse University

Clinical Interests
Julie has experience working with children in the outpatient and school-based settings, both in person and in the virtual settings. She has experience serving children with a wide variety of diagnoses including autism, Down syndrome, ADHD, and sensory processing needs. Julie is passionate about engaging children through play. She strives to meet children where they are at within a given session, at their individual developmental level, and within their family structure even if it may not look like she is “working” to the outside eye.
Hobbies
Julie enjoys going to the beach, spending time with family, reading, cooking, rooting for Pennsylvania teams— Go Pens, Go State (Penn State), and going to country concerts.
Destiny Aiken
COTA/L, Feeding Specialist
Education
Destiny graduated as a COTA from Cape Fear Community College in 2014
Clinical Interests
Since graduating she has expanded her knowledge through continuing education in a variety of skill sets including sensory integration, reflex integration, and feeding therapy. She is passionate about connecting families to education and resources to make them confident and successful as an integral role in their child’s development. Destiny has taken courses with Beckman oral motor, SOS, and TalkTools. She prides herself in holistic care, individual to each family and child’s needs. In her free time, She is approaching 10 years of experience within the field of Occupational Therapy.
Hobbies
Destiny enjoys her time with her family including her two young daughters. Her hobbies include acrylic painting, art, reading books, and enjoying church with her family.
Ashley Flint
MS OTR/L
Education
Ashley attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She obtained her Masters of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy in December of 2023.
Clinical Interests:
Throughout her time in graduate school, Ashley has gained experience in outpatient pediatrics with a sensory based approach, implemented an adolescent safety program for at risk youth within a school system based on interception and trauma informed care concepts, utilized play-based therapeutic activities, as well as focused on the implications of reflex integration. Ashley has a passion for working with individuals in underserved communities to provide services to positively impact their life. Ashley is excited to learn more about trauma informed care and growing as an OT.
Hobbies:
Ashley enjoys spending time with her animals and family, reading a variety of different genre books, exploring new areas, and attending sporting events.
Jalen Odle

Education
Jalen attended Augusta Technical College and graduated as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant in December of 2023. She was a presidential scholar maintaining a 4.0 throughout her education.
Clinical Interests
Throughout her education, Jalen has grown a passion pediatric care. She is excited to gain more knowledge and experience while working at the cottage! Jalen is eager to further her knowledge surrounding sensory processing needs. She strongly believes in creating individualized sessions to help children and families reach their goals!
Hobbies:
Jalen enjoys spending time with her family and her dog. She also loves beach days, traveling, and watching movies!
Dr. Marisa Floyd

Education
Marisa received her Bachelors of Science with a Minor in Psychology at the University of South Carolina and Doctor of Occupational Therapy Degree at Wingate University.
Clinical Interests
Marisa is a local of our community and has always had a passion for working with children. She has been able to work with children with a variety of diagnoses in the Pediatric outpatient setting including, Autism, Down Syndrome, Brachial Plexus, Sensory Processing Disorder, TBI, Cerebral Palsy, Developmental Delay, etc. Marisa enjoys serving children in the community and strives to help her client’s gain Independence in their daily lives through play based therapy.
Hobbies
In Marisa’s downtime, she enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, being outside, cruising around on the golf cart, rooting for the Gamecocks, organizing, and shopping.
Victoria Stout

Education
Graduated from Trident Technical College in 2021 as a COTA.
Clinical Interests:
Victoria has worked solely with the pediatric population upon graduation working in various settings such as daycares, home health, and the clinic. Experienced in working with children with various physical and cognitive disabilities. Passionate about working with children and assisting them with progressing in their daily life skills. Enjoys client centered therapy learning each child’s likes and dislikes to promote a fun, learning environment for each child. Eager to learn more about sensory based techniques through continuing education classes. Believes in the importance of parent education and carry over at home for the best possible outcome for each child.
Hobbies
Victoria loves traveling and spending time with her family and her silly dog named Luka. One of her favorite places to travel is to the mountains in the fall. She also enjoys sports, especially women’s basketball and college football! She’s a Gamecock fan for life! Victoria has a passion for working with children as well as helping those in need.

Rebekah Wanless
Medical Billing + Authorization Specialist
Education:
Rebekah graduated from Lakeland University, Magna Cum Laude, and is also a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. She loved puzzles growing up as well as doing volunteer work with children. Accounting in the pediatric field has provided a wonderful space to use her attention to detail. She also has experience as an Accounting Manager for a trucking and storage company. Trucks are fun, kids are more fun!
Interests:
As a parent to a young child herself, Rebekah is passionate about all of the work Communication Cottage Therapy offers to its young patients.
Hobbies
Rebekah is also interested in gardening, art, music, reading, going on walks, and going to the park with her husband and daughter.
Family is a big priority to Rebekah, and she strives to help care for your family the way she wants hers cared for.

AshLeigh main interests include feeding/swallowing, play-based therapy, and expressive/receptive language disorders. Throughout her clinical internships she gained a variety of experience in many settings including private practice, SNF, and with Horry County Schools. She has a passion for maximizing communication and coaching caregivers in their natural routines/environments through Evidence-Based approaches!
Hobbies:
AshLeigh enjoys being at the river with her fiancé and boys, fishing, playing with her two pups, and being with family and friends!
Jenna Whisenant

Education:
Bachelors of Arts in Psychology with a minor in American Sign Language at Clemson University. Currently in school for a Speech Language Pathology (SLP) leveling certificate from Columbia College to pursue my Masters degree in SLP
Interests:
I have always loved working with children and have experience in two different teaching settings - Dance and preschool. I have a fur-child at home that is a Mini Aussiedoodle. He is 3 years old, so he keeps me pretty busy in my spare time. I also love to travel, read and dance.
